Thereʼs multitudes contained within the sound of Mengers. The Mexico City power trio has harnessed their musical chops through energetic music with sharp edges and occasional melodic hooks. Their first album—GOLLY (2021) demonstrated what they were capable of doing and it set them on the path to become one of the most exciting bands in the scene. i/O (2022), their second album, arrives to demonstrate that they’re reaching a whole new level and that thereʼs more to Mengers than psychedelic noisy garage-tinged songs. Released in 2021, GOLLY managed to raise Mengersʼ profile to the forefront of Mexicoʼs rock underground. Armed with 12 songs full of punk and psychedelia and making a complex critique and chronicle of life in Mexico City, GOLLY was named one of the yearʼs best by local underground blogs and their singles were on the top of many local rock radios. They also appeared on the 2021 edition of the biggest Mexican psych rock festival Hipnosis in Mexico City as well as contributing a session to KEXPʼs Latin American culture celebration, Aquí y Ahora. Seizing their downtime due to lockdown, Mengers got to write the followup to GOLLY. Inspired in part by the pandemicʼs effect on their psyche, i/O represents an attempt to make sense of a world in crisis reflecting on the repetitive nature of not being able to go outside, as well as isolation, fear of losing loved ones, and feeling like letting life waste away. On i/O – taken from the “on/off” switches on most electronic devices- Mengers reflect on how life doesnʼt deal in such duality but rather how opposites tend to complement each other. Musically, i/O represents an expansion of what has come to be known as the Mengers sound. The fuzzed-out guitars and frantic drumming of the past are still mostly present but there are experiments that result in some of their most ambitious music to date, exploring further instrumentation on post-punk and art rock giving inflections to their sound to arrive at the best music they can muster. i/O had been critically acclaimed listing on the best latin albums of the year by Rolling Stone, Remezcla, as well as many mexican newspapers, radio stations and blogs. With i/O, Mengers started a promotional tour of 20 in the US, being able to play at Chicago’s Ruido Fest (biggest latin american music festival in the US), Freakout Festival as well as some of the biggest US cities such as New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. By now, Mengers is one of the most forward thinking bands in the game, a force of nature that will continue to give inspiring music for years to come
L.A. Witch’s self-titled debut album unfurled like hazy memories of late night revelries in the city center creeping back in on a hungover Sunday morning. Guitarist/vocalist Sade Sanchez purred and crooned over jangling guitar chords, painting pictures of urban exploits, old American haunts, and private escapades with a master’s austerity. Bassist Irita Pai and drummer Ellie English polished the patina of the band’s vintage sound, adding a full-bodied thump and intoxicating swing to the album’s dusty ballads, ominous invitations, and sultry rock songs.
Punk rockers Baby Shakes have been on a mission to revive the grime and gruel of the early New York punk scene since the beginning of their musical journey. With their determination and power-packed repertoire, they’re already heading in the right direction.

In Los Angeles, where the weight and pressure of the city’s fast paced culture can make your legs feel like pillars, emerges psychedelic quartet, Levitation Room, to break the bonds of gravity with their cosmic wall of sound and thought provoking lyrics. “Just as their name suggests, Levitation Room’s music instills the listeners ears with a light feeling of floating. The dreamy guitar and Lo-Fi projections of psychedelic rock and garage are reminiscent of a deep 1960’s era, but still grounded in an alternative dreamgaze flavor that permeates modern indie music today.” – OC Weekly. Their decidedly hallucinogenic songs whisper and hum the same gentle refrain of their summer of love influences, conjuring up the cognitive imagery of sunny days at the park, spent with friends in a euphoric haze along with lyrical and sonic meditations on life, love, society and self-awareness.

From the local lineage of bands like X, Germs, and The Gun Club, to the glamorous destitution of the downtown streets, Clover is inspired by the city that raised her, exploring the intricacies of self-discovery, self-creation, and self-preservation in the place where dreams are born to die. With the live-wire energy and crackling force of defiant fists raised in the air, Clover’s music is the rallying cry of a natural born killer. Leading an ace band of rangy, rowdy boys, Clover cuts an electric figure–a next-gen underground hero for the would-be believers.

Nearly always on the road, he has honed his live act with a crunching, yet sensitive backing band of similarly-inclined misfits. Following 2020’s Nocturnal EP, new single ‘Social Amnesia’ is a disillusioned dance track that draws from a melting-pot of influences. Nodding to Italian soundtracks, elements of nu jazz and nostalgic hip-hop beats, the largely instrumental composition glistens with enthusiasm and a love for making music. Layering synthesized strings atop of a groovy bass line, reminiscent of Liquid Liquid’s famously sampled banger ‘Cavern’, the infectious rhythm section wouldn’t sound out of place on Primal Scream’s seminal Screamadelica. Continually elevating across its 4-minute duration, gritty guitars add a satisfying sense of dirt to the well-produced piece before giving way to a disorientating piano outro.
Rawpower, super primitive garage punk, desperate no-wave, trashed out rock’n’roll combo, based in Turin/Italy. Tony Machete on drums, Ivy Claudy screaming and snare, Buddy Fuzz at strings. These guys run straight with hard and tense songs, a dirty sound and lo-fi noise excursions. Weird r’n’r made up of an abrasive and sick voice out of control. Delirious and strong.

Arriving like Brazil’s answer to The War On Drugs, Atalhos combines the reverb-rinsed touches of 80s’ Springsteen, the gentle grandiosity of Arcade Fire and the day-dreaminess guitar pop of Real Estate or Beach Fossils to create music as touching as it is timeless. And in 2022, the rising São Paulo band will release their new album: ‘A Tentação do Fracasso’.

Leatherette are born in Bologna, Italy, in 2018. The name was inspired by the iconic single ‘Warm Leatherette’, by The Normal. ‘Leatherette’ sounded like a mockery of rock music and the rockstar cult: ‘fake’ leather as a device for self-irony, something cheap, punk, disgraceful. Initially the band was a trio, formed by Michele Battaglioli (fka Dolan Tymas – guitarist and lead singer), Francesco Bonora (Baseball Gregg, Sleap-e – drums) and Marco Jespersen (bass).
